This is a great tip for those of you that are planning to visit Oslo. On the main shopping street in Oslo called Karl Johans Gate stands the historical Grand Hotel. It is here that Ibsen and other important cultural and historical figures sat and observed passersby. Every Saturday and Sunday Grand Hotel Oslo serves Afternoon Tea in the beautiful Palmen Restaurant. They serve the traditional three-tiered plate with an assortment of bite-sized cakes, freshly baked scones with clotted cream, macaroons, and cucumber sandwiches with tea. You can also choose to nip on champagne with your Afternoon Tea if you are feeling extra glamorous. The restaurant is just beautiful and ideally placed smack in the center of Oslo. If you need to burn some calories from the cakes and champagne away I recommend a promenade: The Royal Castle and the Castle Park are just a few minutes walk away.
